Dr. Jennifer Thomm

Dr. Jennifer Thomm (“Jenn” as her patients know her) is a life-long resident of Sarnia, ON. Dr. Thomm has been practicing dentistry in Sarnia since 2003 and has owned/operated Great Lakes Dental since 2008.

Prior to becoming a dentist, Dr. Thomm attended Sarnia’s Northern Collegiate High School before attending the University of Western Ontario to complete her degree in Genetics.

Having been accepted into several dental programs throughout North America, Dr. Thomm chose to attend Case Western Reserve University, one of North America’s finest universities, located in Cleveland, OH. After achieving her Doctoral of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2003, Dr. Thomm returned to Sarnia to establish her career. She is both the founder and principal dentist of Great Lakes Dental.

Dr. Thomm is an active member of the Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. She is a certified provider of Cerec Dentistry (a unique CAD/CAM system for patient-specific ceramic restorations in a single visit). Dr. Thomm devotes many days each year to continuing her education through seminars, study clubs and conferences in order to keep up to date with the latest changes and techniques in dentistry.

Throughout her career, Dr. Thomm has dedicated her time and effort to give back and improve the lives of those in our community. Over the years, she has supported a variety of charitable, cultural, sports and community causes. Initiatives that focus on at-risk youth are central to Dr. Thomm's philanthropic endeavours. She's been able to effectively combine personal leadership with strategic giving and public awareness to deliver significant results that have left a lasting impact.

“Making a positive difference is never about the size of the gift,” said Dr. Thomm. "It's about making a commitment to improving our community any way we can. To be effective, sometimes we'll follow, and sometimes we'll lead. It's not important who takes the credit; it's only important that we remain committed to the cause. The people we're trying to help deserve our best efforts.”

When Dr. Thomm is not practicing dentistry or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. An avid runner, Dr. Thomm has completed marathons and several road races. She also enjoys playing piano, reading and hiking in her free time.
